We need to understand that cricket players are also human beings and they have every right to choose what they want, but if India loses the test series badly and there is every chance that it may happen as Rohit unlikely to be fit for the test series, then all the blame will be on Kohli as he has taken this decision to take parental leave ahead of national duty. The heavy series loss can cost India, place in the finals of test championship. So it is tricky decision that Kohli has taken, so let's hope for the best.

I am agreeing at same time disagreeing. first of all tour of Australia is big thing and winning test series there is a matter of national pride, before the tour starts there would have been lots of strategy from both sides and Australia would be strategizing for Kohli. If Kohli is not there there we would not only lose great batsman but the captain . I think he could visit India for couple days for his child birth and then flown back to serve the country. Does he really need to miss three crucial test matches. There are so many people would have same option but choose to serve the nation.

Virats contribution has been far greater in tests especially outside asia. Infact virat and pujara are the only batsmen who seem to get runs abroad.

India have enough talent in batting department. Pujara, rahane are solid in middle order. Rohit may return for tests. Rahul and Mayank are solid at top. Prithvi shaw is a good alternative. Hanuma Vihari looks good and there is always Pant as a attacking option. So Indian cricket teams can relax if Virat Kohli goes to his family. India would have missed Bhumrah more in a team than kohli , because of our wealth in batting department. Hardik Pandya should have been selected in test team. He could have been a good at no7 and a very handy bowler.

I totaly agree with the example of Marnus Labushagne , i mean he was even there in 2018 India's tour of Aus, but in some matches he played, in some he did'nt and just look what he has done from that Lords Test, i think KL has the same opportunity to, because it is high possibility that he will play at 4(Considering Rohit to open, if he is fit). Bcz, Rahul has also been in and out in test, so lets hope he can do something special

Fine no issues.. Then kohli shud have taken leave from all test matches. Rohit or rahane shud have been whole test series to captain. After all test championship is bigger than kohli becoming a parent.

Anyone who blames VK for leaving the tour to be there for the birth of his child should rethink their priorities. There is no reason for guilt. In the end, cricket is just a game. A child is for life. India will definitely be weaker due to the lack of Kohli but its time to show backbone and demonstrate that we aren't a one trick pony. I'm curious as to how it works out. I'm sure there is a temptation to play Rohit in the middle order in place of Kohli, provided he's fit for it, and bring back KL Rahul as opener. But that's just a temporary solution. Depending on the pitch, they could go with Jadeja at 7 and then 4 bowlers. If so, they could move everyone up a spot with Rahane at 4, Vihari at 5, Pant at 6. I'm assuming that they will go for Pant ahead of Saha in Australian conditions. The other senior pros will have to step up big time. Rohit, Pujara, and Rahane will be critical. Pujara has not hit a hundred since last Australia series and hasn't played since beginning of this year, Rahane has looked very rusty in the IPL and has generally been iffy over the last several years, and Rohit's test credentials overseas are unproven. So their batting is definitely more a question mark for me over their bowling.
